I hold a PhD in Japanese Studies, with specialty in the literary work of the Ainu women of Northern Japan, and my work was published under the title "La literatura de resistencia de las mujeres ainu" (El Colegio de México, 2008). I have published several articles and chapters in books related to this field of study, the latest one in 2020.

I am a full-time wheelchair user and I have more than 25 years of experience advocating for the rights of people with disabilities in Mexico, Quebec and at the international level.

I love teaching, and I have been a course lecturer of "Gender and Disability" at the McGill Institute for Gender Sexuality and Feminist Studies since 2006.

My current interests are focused in environmental justice, climate action and gender equality from a disability rights perspective.
